In line with its philosophy of growing with its employees, the Teijin Group strives to create a work environment that supports personal growth and skill enhancement and encourages employees to bring their capabilities into full play. To this end, the Group has created a human resources development scheme to manage personnel in a way that respects individual lifestyles and values.
Enhancing the Capabilities of Tomorrow’s Frontline Leaders
Training session at Teijin Techno College
The Teijin Group is taking steps to upgrade the capabilities of tomorrow’s frontline leaders in an effort to enhance workplace—and thus production—capabilities. These include the establishment in 2007 of Teijin Techno College and in 2008 of the college’s Plant Manager Training program.
At Teijin Techno College, former employees who have retired from management-level positions and are experts in their fields provide instruction. Training focuses on passing on proprietary workplace skills and technologies, as well as on improving proficiency in problem identification and resolution.
Efforts to Ensure Effective Group and Global Management
Securing sustainable growth in an increasingly competitive global market demands effective, coordinated management of the more-than 150 companies and approximately 19,000 employees of the Teijin Group worldwide. We have therefore established a program that selects candidates for future management positions and provides systematic training to develop necessary management expertise. In fiscal 2006, eligibility for the program was expanded to embrace employees in their 30s, and we also introduced important new early-career growth opportunities, including participation in Groupwide projects and overseas assignments.
Promoting Personnel Initiatives that Respect Diversity

Our annual publication on diversity in the workplace for Teijin Group employees in Japan
We continue to implement measures that enhance our personnel system and corporate culture to ensure that all Teijin Group employees—regardless of age, gender, experience, physical health, nationality or ethnicity—enjoy a work environment that empowers them to bring their capabilities into full play, as well as enabling them to maintain a healthy work–life balance. These efforts have received critical acclaim from various quarters and have earned Teijin a reputation as a company that actively encourages the advancement of female employees. Our work-at-home system, introduced in 2008, has also proven a success.
