How does Teijin ensure sustainable growth in shareholder value over the medium to long term?
Teijin has a brand statement of Human Chemistry, Human Solutions. It summarizes our brand strategy, which is to continue to develop chemical technologies that are friendly to both people and the global environment and to keep providing solutions that deliver the real value that society and our customers expect. We believe that medium- and long-term sustainable growth of Teijin's corporate value will be achieved by following triangle business administration—business strategy, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility (CSR) for environmental management and social contribution—in accordance with the above principle.
Why did Teijin decide to adopt a holding company system?
We had promoted management on a Groupwide basis since 1999 but concurrent with the establishment of a new Group management system in April 2003, we adopted a holding company system, transforming individual businesses into companies with the aim of reinforcing competitiveness.
What is Teijin's R&D strategy?
The Teijin Group is proceeding with R&D efforts using its superior technologies in growth areas including para-aramid fibers, carbon fibers, polycarbonates, and medical/pharmaceuticals. In addition, we are conducting joint research to speed up development and introducing global R&D programs to facilitate the swift development of value-added solutions.
What steps are you taking to develop new businesses?
We have established a New Business Development Group within the holding company (Teijin Limited) and tasked it with conducting cutting-edge research and development as well as keeping abreast of market trends, preparing business plans, introducing new technologies and conducting other activities aimed at enhancing the new business development capabilities of the entire Teijin Group.
What is your approach to cultivating new markets?
What kind of program does Teijin have for training employees?
To ensure our ability to withstand global competition, we are striving to cultivate human resources in a manner that ensures effective Group and global management. We are accomplishing this by employing a training system that enables us to continuously enhance employee skills and identify talented individuals, and by being an organization in which employees can fully exercise their abilities.
