Teijin Aramid B.V.

Edward Groen, site manager at Teijin Aramid, Henk Sulmann, chairman of the Works Council and Anton Gustin, member of the Works Council presented a cheque in the amount of €6500 to Bertus ten Velde from care facility Veltman yesterday afternoon, to be used for purchasing a glass greenhouse.

Teijin Aramid wants to make a positive contribution to the local community, a desire stemming from the corporate philosophy. For this reason, each year Teijin Aramid donates half of the Christmas money to charitable causes on behalf of its employees. These charities are both regional and national. Moreover, this year several Teijin Aramid employees donated their own Christmas gifts to charity. This brings the total 2008 corporate contributions to charity to nearly €35,000.

The regional charity receiving this year's contribution from Teijin Aramid in Emmen is care facility Veltman in Weiteveen, a division of Leveste. The money will be used to purchase a glass greenhouse supplied by greenhouse manufacturers't Noorden B.V. The greenhouse will be used to facilitate gardening activities for residents in the winter months. Mr. ten Velde comments, "Thanks to this generous donation, our residents will be able to grow their own fruits and flowers, and use these to make different products".

Teijin Aramid supports various charitable causes
In addition to the donation to care facility Veltman, Teijin Aramid is using its Christmas funds to support two other regional initiatives with similar monetary contributions. In Delfzijl, the recipient is "de Brug" foundation region Oldambt. The Christmas funds from Teijin Aramid in Arnhem were donated to the residential hospice Rozenheuvel in Rozendaal. The national charity recipient this year is foundation "LCH" (Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis), engaged in research into a rare blood disease where certain white blood cells rapidly multiply and attack bones, skin and internal organs. The LCH foundation received a donation of nearly €15,000.
