Teijin to Roll Out Green Carpet for 22nd Tokyo International Film Festival |
| Teijin Limited |
For the second year in a row, the Teijin Group will present the environmentally minded Tokyo International Film Festival with an eco-friendly Green Carpet in place of the traditional red carpet for the Festival's October 17 opening ceremony.
The Green Carpet is made entirely of Teijin Fibers' ECOPET recycled polyester fiber made from used PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles. The Teijin Group will provide 1,600m of green carpet, half of which will be laid along Keyakizaka-dori, one of Tokyo's most glamorous streets running through the Roppongi Hills shopping and event complex.
The complete carpet is the equivalent of some 23,000 half-liter PET bottles. From this year, Teijin's Green Carpet also is fire-resistant, making it especially suitable for use indoors, including in high-rise buildings.
Also from this year, Teijin will provide “eco-bags” made entirely of recycled PET bottles, which will be handed out to Festival guests as reusable shopping bags. Like last year, Teijin also will furnish the Festival with Green Ties, “Greenchief” handkerchiefs and Green Ribbons for use by staff and guests. The eco-friendly accessories are produced with ECO CIRCLE FIBERS, chemically recycled fiber produced from used polyester products. Made with Teijin's proprietary chemical-recycling process, ECO CIRCLE FIBERS offer quality equal to that of products derived directly from petroleum.
