The Teijin Group announced today that its four Thai subsidiaries—Thai Namsiri Intertex Co., Ltd. (TNI), Teijin Polyester (Thailand) Limited (TPL), Teijin (Thailand) Limited (TJT) and N.I. Teijin Shoji (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (NITST)—will organize a free outdoor jazz concert. Jazzy Jacket Concert - For Peaceful Smile of Thailand will be held at Benjasiri Park in Bangkok, Thailand, on December 6.
The concert will feature Koh Mr. Saxman, a nationally famous saxophone player with whom TNI has been collaborating since early this year in the development and promotion of environmentally-friendly recyclable casual jackets named after Koh Mr. Saxman. The concert starts at 6pm and requires no reservation.
The four Thai Teijin group companies planned the concert in hopes of bringing smiles to the faces of local citizens by offering the healing music of Koh Mr. Saxman, wishing for peace and vibrancy in Thailand. Attendance is expected to number around two to three thousand people, including local residents and Japanese living in Thailand.
The concert will also have an environmental theme, reflecting the Teijin Group's philosophy. On stage, Koh Mr. Saxman and other musicians will wear the environmentally-friendly casual jackets promoting the importance of environmental protection. After the jackets are worn out, they are collected and recycled into new polyester materials through Teijin's ECO CIRCLE closed-loop recycling system.
The Teijin Group has been focusing on its operations in Thailand for over 40 years. As far back as 1967, Teijin established a polyester fiber production and sales company, Thai Tetoron Co., Ltd. (currently TPL), which has expanded greatly into one of Teijin's key polyester fiber production bases in Southeast Asia.
Thailand is becoming increasingly important for the Teijin group. Under a plan to make the country Teijin's global production hub for polyester filaments and staple fibers, all polyester filament production will be shifted here from Matsuyama, Japan by the first quarter of 2011. Going forward, the Teijin Group expects to further increase its presence in Thailand and continues its efforts to evolve as an organization that is worthy of society's highest expectations and esteem.
